Tucson has the best Mexican food in the U.S.

El Charro downtown is the most famous. It claims to be the first Mexican restaurant north of the border and where the chimichanga was invented when a cook accidentally knocked a burrito into a deep fryer. Great food, but expect a crowd.

There are lots and lots of great Mexican restaurants in Tucson. Here's a start:

There's a cluster of them around the corner of St. Marys and Grande. Those are good, but you can surely find a good Mexican restaurant nearby wherever you might be in Tucson.
